Colorful Remedies' team members are all long-time Chester County residents. In addition to being skilled craftsman, they are passionate and dedicated individuals who take pride in all of their endeavors. Most important, the core members of the Colorful Remedies team all knew each other and were good friends long before going into business together. Their friendship has helped create a positive, fun, and trustworthy work environment.
Greg Flaherty – Founder and President
College: Greg attended Towson University in Maryland, where he was recruited to play soccer. He received an athletic scholarship to play goalkeeper for the Towson Tigers. Greg's best season came during his senior year in 2006 when the Towson Tigers defense was ranked in the nation's top 10 and went undefeated in conference play. Towson made it to the round of 16 in the 2006 NCAA national tournament before losing to powerhouse Wake Forest. Aside from a successful college soccer career, Greg was also a successful student. He graduated with a bachelor of science in Business Administration with a focus in Management. Greg attributes his success as a business owner and entrepreneur to his college experience and education.
Before CR: Greg began working in the painting industry as a summer employee for a small Chester County residential painting company when he was just 15-years old. Greg was a project assistant and learned a wide range of valuable skills during his time with Bob McCormick Painting. While working as a professional painter for five years, Greg gained increasing expertise and began to contemplate starting his own business upon college graduation.
CR History: Greg developed the initial Colorful Remedies business plan while taking an Entrepreneurial and Small Business class during his senior year at Towson University. He started the business in January 2007 with co-founder Bill Long. Greg is continuing to develop the Colorful Remedies brand and reinforce its core initiatives.
Hobbies and Interests: Greg enjoys spending quality time with his wife Kelly, who is an RN at Chester County Hospital. They love to travel and taking a significant vacation every year is an important priority for them. Greg also coaches soccer and is the Head Coach of the Downingtown Spirit United Barca U-14 boys travel soccer team. Greg continues to play soccer in various adult leagues along with his Colorful Remedies coworkers.
Bill Long – Co-Founder, Senior Project Manager
College: Attended West Virginia University for a full year / currently taking classes at Delaware County Community College
Before CR: Prior to assisting with the launch of Colorful Remedies, Bill helped run a family-owned local pub / restaurant. Bill gained valuable experience there, as he was directly involved in the day-to-day management and operation of the busy establishment. He then shifted his focus and experience to help further develop his management skills as a member of the Colorful Remedies team.
CR History: Bill, excited about a starting a business, was on-board when Greg and he discussed the idea in early 2006. Bill didn't have a great deal of trade experience, but was eager to learn all he could as quick as possible. Bill developed into a Head Project Manager by working closely with Greg for the better part of two years to learn every aspect of the painting industry. He has been managing his own projects since 2008 and is now a specialist in the painting profession. Bill plays an active role in the company's networking events, new employee training, and strategic planning. He is a vital part of Colorful Remedies.
Hobbies and Interests: Bill is a life-long West Chester area resident with a passion for soccer that spans more than two decades. Bill played for the West Chester United Soccer Club for ten years and was a starting mid-fielder for the Henderson High School Warriors. Bill currently continues his action on the field as a member of various Chester County adult league teams. Bill also enjoys traveling and his adventures have taken him to London, Italy, Amsterdam, and the South of Spain
Dan Reitz – Senior Project Manager
College: Dan completed course work at Delaware County Community College.
Before CR: Dan previously worked for a medical equipment sales company before joining the Colorful Remedies team in August 2008. Dan had a variety of responsibilities at his previous company and devoted much of his time to various sales activities. He also was employed by the West Chester Country Club.
CR History: Dan learned about Colorful Remedies during a conversation with Co-Founder Bill Long, who explained that the company was looking for a new employee to develop into a Project Manager. He was intrigued by the opportunity and ready for a career change. Dan joined Colorful Remedies committed and ready to learn all he could. He was an extraordinarily quick learner and began running projects after just one year with the company. Dan now is a very successful Head Project Manager, who embraces Colorful Remedies' vital Customer Service and Retention principles. He manages many of Colorful Remedies' largest and most premier painting projects. Dan has developed a passion for the Home Improvement industry and is excited to broaden his professional horizons in the years to come.
Hobbies and Interests: Dan is another soccer enthusiast and has been playing since he was in elementary school. He played for the Downingtown Spirit United premier travel team growing up and still plays in various adult leagues in the Chester County area. Dan is a fitness enthusiast and enjoys a very healthy and active lifestyle.
Matt Chase – Master Carpenter & Senior Project Manager
College: Matt completed two years at Bloomsburg University, where he was recruited to play baseball. Matt left school early to enter the building and construction industry.
Before CR: Matt worked with Steve Smith Custom Carpentry Contractors, a premier carpentry company specializing in custom home building and additions, before joining the Colorful Remedies team. Matt's five -year tenure with Steve Smith Custom Carpentry Contractors enabled him to develop and hone his skills, while working on some the premier homes in the Chester County / Main Line area.
Matt progressed steadily and became a Superintendent for Steve Smith. In this capacity he oversaw framing projects and coordinated the application of custom finishes and trim of all sorts. Matt developed a reputation for his ability to learn quickly, understand the details of complex projects, and utilize his carpentry skills effectively. Today, Colorful Remedies and Steve Smith Carpentry Custom Carpentry Contractors maintain a strong working relationship and the two companies have worked together on an assortment of projects for the past three years.
CR History: Matt and Greg crossed paths on a job site in the summer of 2008, where Colorful Remedies was doing the painting and Steve Smith was wrapping up the construction on a newly finished basement project in a historic Chester County home. At about the same time, Colorful Remedies was encountering a number of home enhancement projects that required the services of a skilled carpenter, so Greg approached Matt about handling the work for Colorful Remedies' Customers.
At first, Matt worked with Colorful Remedies in the evenings and on weekends, but due to an increasing volume of work he was offered a full-time position as the head of the company's newly established carpentry division in the spring of 2009. Gaining experience on expansions, renovations, additions, and new construction, Matt continues to increase his knowledge of all aspects of the building process. Matt's addition to Colorful Remedies has helped to expand the company's services well beyond fine painting.
Hobbies and Interests: Matt was born in Chester County and resides in Downingtown. He was an avid baseball player for many years, playing for West Side Little League, Bishop Shanahan and Bloomsburg University. Matt was a successful pitcher at all levels of his baseball career. He is an avid Philadelphia sports fan and enjoys getting out to Phillies and Eagles games. Matt also is an avid golfer, and claims to be best golfer on the Colorful Remedies staff. He is passionate about building and construction and can often be found helping out family and friends with home improvement projects on the weekends. Matt also loves tropical vacations and recently traveled to Riviera Maya.
Dan Flaherty– Marketing Director / Project Manager
College: Dan attended Elizabethtown College where he played soccer for four seasons and competed in the NCAA Division III tournament during in his junior year. Dan completed his college education at Immaculata University, where he was a Marketing Management major.
Before CR: Dan had a variety of jobs before joining Colorful Remedies and developed an exceptionally strong worth ethic that meshes perfectly with Colorful Remedies' strong Customer service /high quality of work focus.
CR History: Dan began working part time for Colorful Remedies during the summer of 2007 and has become a very valuable project assistant. He has developed a strong knowledge of the painting industry and is now capable of running projects on his own. Dan recently joined Colorful Remedies as a full-time employee. Dan splits his time between working on site and serving as the Colorful Remedies Marketing Director. He manages the company's website and oversees our Facebook Page. He also is responsible for the continuing development of the Colorful Remedies brand and related marketing activities.
Hobbies and Interests: Dan is another long-time soccer player and has played at a very high level throughout his career. He played for FC Delco and competed for a National Championship as a member of one of the top four U-19 teams in the U.S. Dan continues to play on adult league teams and enjoys staying active and keeping himself in good physical condition. He is also an avid supporter of the newly formulated Philadelphia Union Soccer Team of the MLS and recommends that everyone go see the team play at their beautiful stadium along the Delaware River in Chester, PA.
